The vectors that will shape the business travel industry in 2026
Business travel no longer follows traditional patterns. Business travel is evolving into a strategic ecosystem in which business growth, employee well-being and the use of artificial intelligence-based technology converge. The trends for 2026 point to shorter and more selective trips, supported by more efficient decisions, the return of face-to-face travel and increasingly intelligent travel management.
According to Deloitte's Corporate Travel Study 2025, 74% of travel managers have increased travel budgets compared to 2024, while 54% cite rising costs as the main deterrent to corporate mobility.
At the same time, face-to-face events remain one of the key drivers of demand: two-thirds of professionals plan to attend at least one major meeting, trade show or convention in their annual calendar. In this context, BizAway identifies six trends that will define corporate travel in 2026:
1. 12-hour micro-trip. In 2026, companies will travel less, but much more selectively. The 12-hour micro-trip responds to the need to turn the visit into a quick, precise and high-return action. They are express trips, usually within the same day, designed to meet with a key customer, unlock a business opportunity, participate in a decisive meeting or visit a site without interrupting daily operations.
According to Deloitte, the number of occasional travelers is dropping and the number of professionals making 6-10 trips per year is growing, showing a more ROI-oriented approach: fewer nights away and more impact in less time.
2. Bleisure-biz: wellness and productivity travel together. Bleisure is transforming. It is no longer about “extending” the trip with a day of leisure, but about integrating moments of disconnection without increasing costs. For HR departments and companies, it means greater satisfaction for teams that travel frequently, as well as real support for work-life balance. The ‘bleisure-biz’ approach is consolidating as a tool to boost engagement, talent retention and the psychological well-being of displaced teams.
3. AI-butler travel: the invisible assistant that manages the entire trip. The figure of the AI-butler emerges as the new protagonist of business travel: an intelligent assistant capable of managing policies, reservations, last-minute changes, cost optimization and reporting. More than 60% of travel managers already invest in advanced technology solutions to reduce complexity and operational inefficiencies. AI-based platforms make it possible to automate the most demanding part of the journey.
4. Sustainability as a structural decision. Companies are increasingly integrating ESG criteria into corporate travel management. BizAway highlights two trends in this regard: replacing short-haul flights with rail and planning trips further in advance. By 2026, the most advanced travel policies will incorporate environmental indicators alongside economic ones, making sustainability a key part of corporate performance.
5. Meet & grow: the return of the value of the presidency. In a híbridged work environment, human contact regains prominence. The meet & grow approach sees travel as a catalyst for relationships: events, trade shows, training, workshops and meetings with customers and strategic partners. Nearly two-thirds of professionals expect to attend at least one major event in 2025, a trend that will continue to grow in the coming year. Thusí corporate travel becomes a space to generate alliances and accelerate business growth.
6. Flow-flex mobility: total flexibility as the new standard. Cancellations, delays, advance meetings and changing priorities make flexibility an indispensable pillar of business travel. Flow-flex mobility describes dynamic management, designed to absorb unforeseen events without slowing down the business. This model is based on flexible policies, bookings that can be modified at no additional cost, digital tools capable of reconfiguring itineraries in seconds, and continuous support. To drive this flexibility, BizAway has BizzyFlex, a solution that allows you to cancel or modify reservations with refunds of up to 80%, facilitating last-minute changes quickly and without stress.
“Business Travel is going through a key moment of transformation”, señala Luca Carlucci, CEO and co-founder of BizAway. Companies no longer think in terms of volume, but in terms of value. They want travel that is smart, sustainable, flexible and supported by advanced technology. At BizAway, we have turned these needs into real solutions, capable of transforming travel into a business accelerator and not a cost center," he concludes.
