TIS 2020 fills travel professionals with optimism
With a total of 1,263 in-person attendees from 16 countries visiting the Tourism Innovation Summit (TIS2020) from November 25-27 in Seville, tourism professionals are facing the immediate future with more optimism and determination. Among the scheduled sessions, the congress included a panel discussion moderated by Natalia Ros, co-founder of Forum Business Travel, dedicated to motivation.
Given the extraordinary circumstances in which the congress took place, with extensive restrictions on mobility in many countries, the 1,263 visitors1.263 in-person visitors from 16 countries were joined 3,891 visitors ‘online’ from 46 countries from five continents. Visitors were able to attend the 180 hours of conferences with more than 200 experts participating in the congress.

In her conclusions, Natalia Ros pointed out that «motivation is what will tip the balance of reactivation. And to foster it we have two tools: communication and training, with public and private collaboration in joint marketing actions based on data, technology and market intelligence.
SAFETY AND PREVENTION
Throughout the event, health safety and prevention were present from the very door of the congress. TIS2020 carried out a total of 1,263 antibody tests to the attendees, of which 800 were performed in the same premises of the congress center of Servilla (FIBES) and more than 400 at origin.
“We have opted to be the example that the revival of the tourism sector is possible with the realization of tests of this type, both in origin and destination, a measure that claims the sector to return to the activity as soon as possible”, says Silvia Avilés, director of TIS – Tourism Innovation Summit.
Avilés also thanks the collaboration and effort of the City Council of Seville to hold TIS in the city and the Junta de Andalucía, who “have opted for this international summit to revive tourism”.
The closing ceremony of TIS2020 counted with the participation of the President of the Government,Pedro Sánchez, to show his support for this meeting as a forum to promote innovation and digitization of the tourism industry. During his speech, Sánchez stressed that “we need country budgets, which undertake the transformations we are talking about, and that the tourism sector deserves, boosting it, modernizing it and also creating added value and quality employment”.
