During the third quarter of the year hotel rates in Spain increased by 17.2%, according to HRS Hotel Price Radar. The average price per person per room stood at 116&euro, up from 99&euro in the same period last year.

These data demonstrate the upward trend of prices in España during 2017 as during the second quarter they stood at 102€. 

The report, which analyzes prices in the main Spanish cities a Barcelona at the head of prices, with an increase of 20.8%; in second place, at a great distance, Madrid, with an increase of 8.2%; followed by Alicante, 7.5%; and Valencia, with 6%. 

Prices in the cities of Sevilla and Granada were down -7.5% and -1.3%, respectively. In Palma de Mallorca prices barely rose 0.7% and in the case of Bilbao, they remained the same as in the second quarter.

The most expensive room in Spain is in Barcelona (151 €) surpassing Palma de Mallorca which last year held the first place 146€, in 2016; 147€ in 2017 and  Bilbao, with 108 € remains in third place.


EUROPE

In the case of Europe the price trend is also on the rise and numerous cities recorded increases. The ranking is headed by Barcelona (20.8%) followed by Athens, with 14.9%; surpassing Lisbon (12.7%)  and Prague (14.3%). In Europe there are also some cities that have seen their prices fall, such as Oslo (-5.7%) and Berlín (-2%). 

The most expensive average hotel room price in Europe is in Zúrich  (180€ ), followed by London, (175€  ) and Copenhagen (173€ ).  The cheapest rooms at the European level are in Istanbul, 76€ ; Warsaw, 82€  and Prague, 88€  . 


WORLD RATE

The HRS study also analyzes the situation of hotel prices worldwide. Hotel prices have increased significantly in Bombay, 41.3%; Toronto, 29.2% and Cape Town, 26.3%. However, there are also cities that have seen their prices decrease, such as Kuala Lumpur, with a drop of more than -29%, Río de Janeiro (-16.8%) or Miami, with -9.5%.

The highest average price remains in New York 254€, the same amount as last year, followed by Washington with 209€  -it has decreased 0.5% compared to 2016- and Sídney (181€ , up more than 10% compared to last year). The cheapest cities to stay in are: Kuala Lumpur with 46€; Bangkok, 75€  and Pekín, 79€.
