The WTTC recommends the elimination of barriers and the definition of global standards.
The World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) has released a report revealing trends for the recovery of both leisure and business travel once the critical phase of the pandemic is over. The agency offers recommendations such as the removal of barriers and the definition of common security standards.
The report emphasizes the importance of adopting acoordinated global approach to recovery, improving thetravel experience, adopting new technologies and applying global hygiene protocols, to rebuild traveler confidence.
In particular, he stresses the need for the public and private sectors to work together to recover millions of affected jobs, and highlights four trends leading the way to the recovery of this activity: evolution of demand, health and hygiene, innovation and digitization, and lastly, sustainability.
According to the study, 70 percent of travelers in North America would be willing to book during the pandemic if the cancellation policywere free and if travel providers guaranteed safety and hygiene, cited by 69 percent of respondents.
On the other hand, the process of digitization is being fundamental in these circumstances. In fact, the survey reveals that 45% of travelers say they are ready to move from paper passports to a digital identity. In addition, 73% prefer suppliers that emphasize sustainable travel.
It is essential that we continue learning from previous crises and come together in a coordinated way to make a real difference in reducing the economic and human impact”, says Gloria Guevara, president and CEO of WTTC.
The report offers recommendations on how the travel and tourism sector can ensure a more accelerated recovery:
