The volume of ancillary services contracted through Amadeus grows by 60%.

In 2016, the volume of ancillary services contracted through the Amadeus Airlines Ancillary Services platform grew by 60% compared to the previous year, according to the data recorded in this technological support, the first in the world designed to facilitate the sale of these services in travel agencies.



According to data released in Amadeus IT Group's results presentation, at the end of 2016, 66% of worldwide bookings made through the Amadeus system allowed the booking of a complementary service, mainly related to luggage transfer, meals, seat selection or pet transportation.

At present, 71 airlines provide their services in Spain through the Amadeus Airlines Ancillary Services platform, which offers ancillary services to more than 90 airlines worldwide. More than 120 airlines have already contracted it. Our country is among the top five in Europe with the highest number of ancillary services available to airlines, behind only Germany (79) and France (76).

On average, each airline offers four additional services. Five of them make it possible to book more than nine. The ones offering the most ancillaries are TAP.

AMADEUS INFORMATION WEBSITE

Amadeus España has launched an ‘informative and resource download site’ that will make it easier for domestic travel agencies to book and market ‘ancillary services’ to their travelers.

The new site (www.amadeusancillaryservices.es) is structured in several sections (suitcases, seats, pets and food), where travel agents can find a compilation of all the transactions to use with the most important airlines.

It also includes seven explanatory demo videos and gives travel agents the possibility to download smart keys or pre-programmed commands that allow them to trigger the booking of a complementary service in the system without the need to learn complex commands or operations.
