Spanish agencies connected to Amadeus improve their network infrastructure

Amadeus España has initiated a process of renovation and improvement of the network infrastructure of the national travel agencies that have their communications lines connected to its system. The process, which will be completed before the summer, will benefit more than 16,000 professionals.

Agencies will be able to have the best possible network infrastructure in the geographical area in which they are located, with a line throughput that will go from 10 to 100 megabytes in almost a thousand agencies.

This upgrade means, on average, an improvement of 50 Mb in the capacity of the agencies' networks or, in other words, an increase of 160.000 Mb in the online throughput of the Spanish agency network.

In order to provide a better service, Amadeus España will also install corporate Wi-Fi in the agencies, which will allow agency professionals to access their network and the Amadeus reservation system from any point of the establishment, within the range of the same.

Also, fiber lines will be installed to the agencies that had ADSL (and that have fiber coverage in their geographic area), and more than 1,000 new fiber lines will be installed in the agencies, which will allow them to access their network and the Amadeus reservation system from any point of the establishment, within its range;), and more than 650 lines of back-up will be upgraded to ADSL (in agencies that are upgraded to fiber) after the old back-up is removed.

This infrastructure improvement process also involves the software upgrade of 400 routers and the replacement of this device in 1050 agencies.

As Rafael González, director of Technology and Development at Amadeus Spain, explains, "In a context in which travel agencies are redefining their customer service models and converting their establishments into travel centers, we are seeing the need for a new service model;n and turn their establishments into advisory centers, with open and flexible spaces, technology must facilitate business to the maximum, offering mobile and high-capacity technologies at the service of professionals”.
