Spain once again demonstrates its strength in business tourism. Madrid and Barcelona account for half of the top ten hotels for events and meetings in Europe in the Cvent Top Meeting Hotels Europe 2026 ranking, presented during IMEX Frankfurt.

The ranking also names the Meliá Avenida América as the best MICE hotel on the continent, reinforcing Spain?s position as one of Europe?s leading destinations in this segment.

The Spanish capital stands out in particular by placing three properties in the top ten: the Meli&a; Avenida América itself, which tops the ranking; the Madrid Marriott Auditorium Hotel & Conference Center, in sixth place; and the NH Collection Madrid Eurobuilding, in ninth place. Barcelona also gains ground with the presence of the W Barcelona, in third place, and the Grand Hyatt Barcelona, in seventh.

The European list is rounded out by hotels in destinations traditionally strong for the MICE business, such as London, Lisbon, and Rome. The Hilton London Metropole ranks second, while Lisbon has three hotels in the top 10.

For Alfonso Muñoz, general manager of the Meliá Avenida América, this recognition reflects a long-standing strategic commitment to the meetings and events segment. As he explains, the hotel?s goal is to become an ?agile and flexible? partner for organizers, offering not only spaces but also efficient and memorable experiences.

Spain?s leadership is also reflected in the ranking of meeting destinations compiled by Cvent. London retains the top spot for the fourth consecutive year, while Barcelona moves up to second place and Madrid ranks third. Lisbon, Paris, Amsterdam, Berlin, Rome, Munich, and Vienna round out the European top 10.

From Cvent, Graham Pope, the company?s vice president of international operations, emphasizes that the hotels and destinations recognized this year have successfully met the key current demands of organizers: speed, responsiveness, collaboration, and high-quality in-person experiences.

The platform also highlights the dynamism of the European meetings and events market, in a context where group bookings through its systems exceeded $20 billion globally in 2025. According to the company?s data, 75% of companies believe that in-person meetings generate more value than other sales or marketing activities, while seven out of ten organizers expect to increase the volume of events by up to 20% this year.

To compile its rankings, Cvent analyzes activity recorded in its global supplier network between January and December 2025. In the case of hotels, indicators such as requests for proposals received, booked room nights, market share, response time, and the bid rate submitted by each establishment are taken into account.
