IBTM World renews contract with Fira de Barcelona for three more editions

Reed Travel Exhibitions, the organizer of IBTM World, formerly known as EIBTM, has announced the renewal of the contract that ends in 2016 to hold the show at the Fira Gran Vía in Barcelona for at least three more editions, so it will be present at this location until 2019.

The fair has been held in the Catalan capital for 12 years now. The director of the event, Graeme Barnett, highlights the strong commitment and collaboration of the city and all the organizations involved, such as Fira de Barcelona and Barcelona Convention Bureau, to consolidate the show as the world's leading event for the business travel industry.

Barnett also highlights the “important transformation of the city” since the show moved to Barcelona from Geneva in 2004.

In the opinion of the head of Reed Travel Exhibitions, the values of the destination lie in the Gran V & iacute;a venue, the quality of the hotels and the improvement of infrastructures such as the imminent arrival of the L9 metro line, Terminal 1 of the airport and the high-speed train service.

According to Fira de Barcelona's Director of External Business, Pere Camprub, the renewal of the agreement "guarantees the capacity of the city and of Fira's facilities and services to attract and maintain events of this level in the city".

In its last edition, held between November 17 and 19, the show specialized in business travel, congresses and incentives brought together 3,000 exhibitors from 150 countries and was visited by 15,500 professionals.
