Forum Business Travel participates in the first ?creative departure? of the Tourism Cluster

The continuous commitment of Forum Business Travel for innovation and its collaboration agreement with the Madrid Network Tourism Clúster have resulted in an original “creative game” in which several companies have proposed a battery of solutions to an imaginary challenge in the tourism sector. All this has been possible thanks to “IDK: Ideas Development Kit”,

The initiative of the Clúster de Turismo to present to a group of companies related to tourism and events the Kibo Factory game, a stimulating tool to promote  innovation in groups in an autonomous way and for a limited period, has had an excellent reception.

After a session of more than two hours led by Beatriz Sig enza, creator of the kit, two members of Forum Business Travel and the rest of the participants could check the creative potential that can be developed when the modules are appropriate and teamwork works.

“IDK: Ideas Development Kit” starts with a common challenge. The one chosen by the participants had to do with “the corporate event as a sales tool”. Through cards and flashcards, the game demands an effort of imagination to put on the table proposals that attract attention. One of the most stimulating phases is when the leader proposes to the groups a series of apparently unrelated words so that they can look for the point of union with the challenge. The technique allows to find really creative solutions to very common needs. In a further step of the development, the participants have to put themselves in the shoes of a very famous character and guess what kind of actions he/she would propose to overcome the same test.

The culmination of the game is a pooling of all the ideas and solutions, which are submitted to free voting to choose the 10 most valued ones. The most practical part of the exercise comes when it is time to analyze each of them under the prism of feasibility and estimated impact. A difficult balance.

The entrepreneur Beatriz Sigulenza, computer engineer by training and founder of KIBO Factory, has experience in companies such as Microsoft, Endesa or Bosch in countries as diverse as Spain, Finland, Germany or Japan. In 2010 he created LEAP LAB, an innovation consultancy for SMEs and, as a result of his contacts with them, he devised the IDK, a tool that is making its way among different types of companies and organizations due to the success of the "creative departures".
