El Corte Inglés Department Stores joins Forum Business Travel

Forum Business Travel continues to expand its range of sponsors. The continuous training platform for corporate travel managers has just welcomed El Corte Inglés Department Stores as a sponsor. With this addition, FBT completes its arc of knowledge in a sector with growing strength as a parallel activity in meetings and incentive travel.

The entry of the new sponsor of Forum Business Travel comes at a time when the Government has just approved a plan to support shopping tourism, where El Corte Inglés stands out as an undoubted benchmark. El Corte Ingles has been developing an ambitious plan to promote Spain as a quality destination in markets such as China, Japan, Singapore, Thailand, the Philippines, Russia, Brazil, Mexico, the United States and other parts of the Middle East and Africa. According to a report by the UNWTO, shopping tourism generates more than 1.2 billion euros throughout Spain from visitors from outside the European Union.

For Natalia Ros, founding partner of Forum Business Travel, the new sponsor will open the scope of our training programs with an innovative vision of a complementary activity increasingly rooted in business travel and in meeting and incentive tourism in general.

According to Javier Fernández  Andrino, director of Tourism and International Marketing at El Corte Inglés Department Store, “the major business travel destinations, such as Germany, France, the UK and the US, have focused their strategy in the last few years on the business travel market;ltimos años on increasing tourist spending, with shopping being the main item within the complementary activities and where España has a long way to go to increase spending at the destination of business travelers”.

With the entry of El Corte Inglés Department Stores, Forum Business Travel seeks to reinforce the value proposition provided by leading suppliers in their respective segments, such as Air Europa (air transport); Amadeus (technology); American Express Global Business Travel and Halcón Empresas (travel agencies); Meliá Hotels International and NH Hotel Group (accommodation); Diners Club International (payment methods); Enterprise Rent-a-Car (car rental); and mytaxi (cab management).
