PASSENGER'S RIGHTS
When a traveler is flying in Spain or in one of the 120 countries that have ratified the Montreal Convention, he or she may be entitled to compensation, which varies
between 1.200 and 3,000 euros, depending on the damage, delay or loss of luggage.
Passengers must submit this claim at the airport before leaving it.Travelers must fill out a Property Irregularity Report (PIR) for lost baggage. The more detailed the claim, the better it will be for the passenger, including a detailed list of the contents of their luggage, value of each item, etc.
In the event that the passenger is carrying in their baggage contents with a value greater than 1,131 SDRs (Special Drawing Rights), which is equivalent to approximately 1.345, you must notify the airline before checking in your baggage.
In this case, you may be able to get higher compensation if it is lost, but this amount may vary depending on the airline you are flying with. Travelers carrying valuable baggage should check each airline's policies, as well as each airline's travel insurance policy to ensure that their bags are protected.
