American Express Global Business Travel reaches agreement to acquire Egencia

American Express Global Business Travel (GBT) has made a binding offer to acquire Egencia, the corporate travel division of Expedia Group. Expedia will become a shareholder of GBT through a long-term, strategic commercial agreement. Together, the two companies will offer comprehensive solutions across all segments of corporate travel.

The agreement incorporates Egencia, a leading digital business travel management company, into GBT. GBT will continue to invest in the Egencia brand, in the Egencia team and also in its technology.

The idea is that GBT and Egencia will offer comprehensive solutions to clients in all segments of business travel.

The combination of Egencia with GBT's Supply Marketplace Platform (SMP), will form one of the most comprehensive content sources for business travelers.

Also, with both the Egencia platform and GBT's Neo tool, the company will be in a position to develop the best solutions for the future of business travel.

The acquisition agreement is subject to consultation by Egencia and the Expedia Group with its various employee representatives, as well as customary purchase agreement conditions, including regulatory approval.
