What kinds of global agreements can be obtained with airlines?

SILVIA MAGDALENO, manager of SQUEEZE TRAVEL

Global agreements with airlines are accessible to those companies that have knowledge about their annual spend volume and have identified their main routes.

These agreements usually require a high volume of expenditure, and sometimes a large part of that consumption must be issued in a specific country.

At present, the airlines distrust the data provided to them, so they even claim to have access to the cards with which the tickets are issued to be able to verify that the volume of expenditure is real. In other words, the companies impose their own laws and determine very strict rules for corporations in order to be eligible for this type of agreement.

In the event that the companies do not have great knowledge of their routes or flights, the possibility of obtaining an optimal global agreement is considerably reduced. This is a real headache for travel managers who want to close deals in different countries with a single contact.

As long as airlines are not able to offer a coordinated and simple response through a single global interface, companies will be forced to invest large amounts of time, money and effort in order to have a catalogue of preferred suppliers with competitive and up-to-date rates.
