Public transport to Spanish airports is among the cheapest in Europe

In Spain, travel by bus, train or metro to the airport is significantly cheaper than in cities in neighboring countries such as Paris, Milan, London or Rome. This is the result of a study carried out by the portal Flightright.es in the main destinations of Western Europe.

In the case of the airport Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas, the bus ride from Atocha station costs 5 euros. You can also access the airport by metro, with a price depending on the area of between 5 and 6 euros. In addition, there is a Cercanías line with stations in Príncipe Pío, Atocha or Nuevos Ministerios, whose price is somewhat cheaper (2.55 euros), although it only goes as far as Terminal 4. The average arrival time ranges between 40 minutes and an hour.

For its part, in Barcelona-El Prat, the alternatives are similar in terms of price and travel time. For 5.90 euros, passengers can transfer to their terminals at Aerobús or do so by train to T2 for 4.1 euros.

The most expensive of the most congested airports in Spain is that of Tenerife Sur. Travel prices to the Canary Islands airport can reach up to 13.55 euros. On the opposite side are the airports of Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, whose bus fares do not exceed 1.50 euros.

These prices are significantly cheaper than those applied by our European neighbors. The most expensive are journeys to the four airports in London, which range from £15.50 (about 20 euros) to Luton, to £26 (33 euros) to Heathrow.

Somewhat cheaper are public transport journeys in French cities. Getting by bus to the airports of París ranges from ?7.50 to ?10.50, while the price of a ticket to the airport of Lyon or Beauvais amounts to ?13.50 and ?17.50, respectively.

In Italy, the most expensive way to the airport is by train to Milan-Malpensa, at 10 euros. In other cities such as RomeVeniceBolognaBergamo or Palermo, prices are around 5 and 6 euros. However, in Italy there are also some of the cheapest ways to get to the airport, such as Pisa (1.20 euros) or Catania (1.30 euros).
