Business travelers embrace apps inspired by leisure travel

Business travelers continue to embrace new tools and apps inspired by the leisure travel and retail sector, while embracing the expansion of trends such as the collaborative economy, according to Carlson Wagonlit Travel's latest report, "Faster, Smarter, Smarter, Better?

Key innovations such as Big Data, virtual credit cards and social media are paving the way toward “markets of one”, a term coined for a level of service and personal preferences that makes the customer feel like they are being treated with exclusivity.

But while travelers still express concerns about elements such as data security, they seem willing to accept these changes as long as it makes their lives easier and better, especially as providers continue to find ways to address these issues with their offerings.

The último report from Carlson Wagonlit Travel (CWT), “Faster, Smarter, ?Better?” addresses the five key trends that are transforming the world of corporate travel: personalization, mobile technology, collaborative economy, new ways of booking, and new payment solutions. The report was compiled from a survey of approximately 127 travel managers and 1,080 travelers who provided feedback for the study.

The report also indicates that 35% of travel managers are planning to incorporate these technologies and trends they have established as important into their travel programs and another 38% are actively considering it. Of those looking to incorporate these trends, 56% are planning to do so next year.

According to David Morán, executive vice president, CWT Global Enterprise Strategy, "as the pace of technological change accelerates, the market is preparing for new ways to shop, manage and experience travel”.
