Barcelona will have its own airport shuttle train in 2018

The shuttle train to link the center of Barcelona with the airport of El Prat will be a reality in 2018, according to the agreement reached with the Ministry of Public Works after two years of paralysis. It is estimated that the service will transport between 7 and 9 million users annually.

 

The works will start next April with a budget of 220 million euros. The connection will have stations in the T1 T1 and in the T2 T2 of the airport of the Condal City. In the middle of this year, a public tender estimated at 75 million euros more will be opened to tender the works of the facilities and stations, as well as the management of the service to a private company.

Según the conceller of Territory and Sustainability of the Generalitat, Santi Vila, "the shuttle will allowá break the management model of Rodalies with the entry of new operators that will surely helpán to improve the quality of service". The agreement will also serve to uncall the works of the railway accesses to the Port of Barcelona.
