Aena announces free and unlimited wifi in all airports
The 46 airports and 2 heliports in the Aena network will offer wireless Internet access free of charge and without time limit, according to the agency's announcement. The service will quadruple the current speed and is expected to be available in October.
The board of directors of Aena has already approved the start of the tender for the provision of this service, which will last for two years.
After being at the tail end of Europe in the extension of free wifi, with free connections of only 15 minutes, AENA intends to substantially improve its offer which, if fulfilled, could become a reference among the countries of our environment.
The Organization of Consumers and Users (OCU) launched last January a campaign to collect signatures to request the measure just announced by the airport infrastructure management company.
In any case, the airports will continue to offer a Premium pay service for customers who request it, with improved access speed and additional services.
The offer of free wi-fi Internet access at the network's airports is a further step in Aena's commitment to the development of digital services for passengers, such as those provided through its app, which includes information on flights and boarding gates, the possibility of making reservations at airport parking lots or contracting access to VIP lounges.
The winner of the public tender is expected to start providing the service two months after the awarding of the contract, possibly starting in October of this year.
