Meliá, Minor and Iberostar lead the ESG ranking of the tourism sector in Spain

Meliá Hotels International, Minor Hotels Europe & Americas and Grupo Iberostar top the ranking of the most responsible tourism companies in terms of ESG criteria in Spain, according to the results of the 15th edition of Merco ESG España, the benchmark monitor of corporate reputation and sustainability.

The study places Meliáas the best positioned company in the tourism sector, followed by Minor and Iberostar, consolidating the leadership of the large Spanish hotel groups in terms of environmental sustainability, social impact and good corporate governance.

Along with these three companies, the Merco ESG sector ranking also includes Barceló Hotel Group, AC Hotels by Marriott, Paradores and Riu Hotels & Resorts, completing a list of seven companies that stand out for the integration of responsible policies in their management model.

Beyond the sector ranking, several of these companies are also among the 100 companies with the best ESG reputation in Spain;n ESG de España, which reinforces the importance of tourism —y especially accommodation— in the sustainable transformation of the country's business fabric.

Merco ESG recognition reflects a progressive evolution of the sector towards strategies that go beyond regulatory compliance, incorporating objectives linked to the reduction of environmental impact, social responsibility with employees and local communities and the reinforcement of more transparent and ethical governance structures.

For the Business Travel and Corporate Events sector, these results are particularly relevant in a context in which companies and travel managers increasingly value sustainability as a key criterion in the selection of suppliers and destinations.
