The MICE segment will grow by 2% in Spain in 2015, according to American Express Travel.

In contrast to the pessimistic data predicted for the rest of Europe, both the incentive sector and the number of corporate events held in our country are expected to increase their activity by just over 2% compared to 2014, according to the latest forecasts of American Express Travel.

The agency's report is optimistic for the Spanish MICE segment over the next year, in contrast to the less flattering forecasts for the rest of the European countries. In Spain, a slight growth in the sector is expected, while Europe will experience a significant drop in activity, except in the United Kingdom.

American Express Travel forecasts that the number of corporate events held in Spain will increase by 2.6% in 2015, while the incentives sector will experience growth of around 2.1%. The reason for this growth is due more to the fact that Spanish companies are still unable to afford to organize their events abroad and also to the drastic drop in activity that occurred during the years of crisis.

In addition, incentives for Spanish companies will have a duration of almost five days, two days longer than the European average. In most cases, the main objective will be the training or motivation of sales teams.

The travel budgets of Spanish companies will remain stable throughout 2015 and will have to cope with the slight upturn in business travel prices in 2015.

For the next fiscal year, the company forecasts that business travel fares, hotel and ground transportation rates will register a slight increase in 2015 thanks to a slight growth in the global economy. Regarding ticket prices in Europe, they are expected to remain stable, except on transatlantic routes, which may record decreases.
