Online flight buyers go directly to the airline's web site
The vast majority of users who book flights online are wary of intermediaries. A 74% of them prefer to buy directly on the website of the airline, according to a study conducted by internautas.org. The main cause is that incidents arise during the process.
According to the survey, conducted in October 2013 among 1.237 people, 89% of Internet buyers distrustía the websites of intermediaries, despite the fact that 51% of those who have made reservations on them state that they have had no problems and that in only 18% of cases has there been a delay in resolving them.
And yet, 57% of Internet users abandon the purchase process with intermediaries due to lack of clarity or insecurity when making the transaction. In what the intermediary websites do seem useful is the compare function, since 60% use it for information, although they then direct the purchase through another channel.
For 45%, it is the airlines where it is more economical to buy a flight; 35% think that it is in the agencies and 15% think that the prices are the same in airlines and agencies. While for 47% of men, airlines are more economical, 31% say it is the agencies. On the other hand, among women, 50% believe that it is more economical in the agencies versus 31% who believe it is the airlines.
