Mytaxi and Hailo join forces to create Europe's largest cab service company

Mytaxi and Hailo, two innovative and leading cab service companies, join forces to create the largest taxi company in Europe, with 70 million passengers and 100,000 registered cab drivers in more than 50 cities in 9 countries.

The geographical presence of the two companies complements each other very well. Hailo operates in the UK, Ireland and Spain, while Mytaxi operates in Austria, Germany, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Spain and Sweden.

The newly created company will operate under the Mytaxi brand and will rebrand all of Hailo's operations in the UK, Ireland and Spain by mid-2017. The CEO of the new company will be Andrew Pinnington, while Niclaus Mewes, founder of Mytaxi, will join the board and play a central role in the integration and strategic development of the new company. The company's headquarters will be in the German city of Hamburg.

The announcement of the merger of the two companies is subject to the approval of the European regulatory authorities, whose decision is expected in the next few weeks.

Founded by three London cab drivers in November 2011,Hailo has a network of more than 77,000 registered cab drivers in the UK, Ireland, Singapore, Spain and Japan. Its staff is made up of 150 employees and provides service to some 200,000 registered users.

Mytaxi is the pioneer application in the sector worldwide, with 10 million downloads, more than 45,000 connected cabs and available in 40 cities. It allows direct connection between driver and passenger, as well as payment directly through the smartphone. In Spain, it offers a fleet of 4,000 partner vehicles in Madrid and Barcelona.

The operation involves an investment of around 500 million euros, an amount that has already been earmarked for creating mobility platforms and services in recent years. According to Klaus Entenmann, Chairman of the Board of Daimler Financial Services, owner of mytaxi, the consortium is ready to make further strategic investments that will allow us to continue to build our mobility ecosystem.
