Women in Hospitality calls for the visibility of female talent in the tourism industry

The professional network of Women in Hospitality, an association whose mission is to actively contribute to the development of tourism and promote female leadership, as well as to serve as an inspiration and support to other women in our industry, highlights the repeated lack of participation of women managers in forums and seminars in our industry, particularly in those spaces of debate with the presence of CEOs;The lack of participation of women managers in forums and seminars in our industry, particularly in those spaces of debate with the presence of CEOs, board members or senior management positions, is evident.

According to Women in Hospitality, despite progress, the presence of women in decision making and visibility spaces is still limited, especially as indicated in forums where CEOs, board members and senior managers participate. However, this reality is not due to a lack of capacity or preparation, but to a transformation that the sector is still slowly progressing.

The manifesto continues to state: «Although it is true that there are still few women holding these positions in the tourism sector, the solution is certainly not to do without them in the most important forums. On the contrary, we consider it necessary to increase their involvement by highlighting the fact that this is a sector with relevant examples of women with a great professional career, solid experience and enough stature to take part in debates with CEOs of large tourism companies&quo;.

For Women in Hospitality, «the solution to this thorny problem, and the contribution to full equality, is to integrate prepared and talented women in all the debates that arise and not to ignore the opinion, experience and wisdom of a gender that represents 50% of the population.

For all these reasons, the association makes an appeal:

– To the organizers of events, media, institutions and entities of the tourism sector, to integrate in a natural and decisive way the female voice in their spaces of debate, decision making and analysis.

– Tothepublic sectorandtheprivate sector, which are already committed to promoting female talent in their own structures, to extend this commitment to the public sector, actively promoting a diverse and balanced representation in the forums, events and spaces for reflection in which they participate.

With this approach, Women in Hospitality proposes to act from collaboration and proactivity, committing to:

         - Contact with media, institutions and event organizers to encourage the participation of women in positions of responsibility and leadership in public spaces of debate.
         - To offer our cooperation to identify female professional profiles with experience and strategic vision that can enrich the dialogue and add value to the sector as a whole.
         - Contribute to raise awareness of the importance of moving towards a more inclusive and diverse culture, not as an external imposition, but as a shared conviction and source of innovation, competitiveness and progress.

«Our goal is not to point out shortcomings, but to add talent, open spaces and promote a more balanced representation that reflects the richness and plurality of the tourism sector. Therefore, from Women in Hospitality, we reiterate once again our willingness to collaborate with all stakeholders in the tourism ecosystem to move together towards a fairer industry, where knowledge and shared talent are the axis of its development.
