Airlines could reduce their emissions by up to 70% by 2050 by improving aircraft efficiency and adopting sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). However, the sector is struggling to reach its net-zero emissions targets over that horizon, which requires an investment of close to ?2 trillion, according to a study by Bain & Company.
